Good Morning MOJO,

A few weeks ago, I was talking to a group of people about what it takes to experience a quantum leap in your business and life. During the presentation, one of the things I talked about was needing to make radical changes in order to experience dramatic breakthroughs. After I was done, someone came up and introduced me to the book I mentioned in Monday Morning MOJO a couple of weeks ago, The Slight Edge. He said the book contradicted a lot of my comments about needing to make radical changes to have better life or a better business. I must say I was intrigued at how you could have a radically better life, and be massively more efficient and profitable in your business without making some dramatic changes. Right after that I listened to The Slight Edge on audio book.

The Slight Edge was all about making small changes and maintaining them for a lifetime…that is what is going to make the difference…that is what was going to get you more of what you want in life. Not some radical change. It used examples such as how going for a walk once will not make a big difference in your health, but going for a walk everyday for a lifetime will. It talks about having a salad versus a slice of pizza for lunch…again do it once and will have no impact, but do it long enough and it will have a huge impact on your health. Read 10 pages in a book like Think and Grow Rich and it will have very little impact on your life…but if you read 10 pages in a good book every day for a year, you will read 15 books and that will have a MAJOR impact. Fold a piece of paper in half once and it is not very thick…continue to fold it over and over again 50 times and it will be tall enough to touch the Sun.

A few weeks later I was giving that same talk on what it takes to experience a quantum leap and I changed it a bit. I told everyone all they needed to do was make some small changes to have a better life and business…the key however, is you need to commit to those small changes for a very long time…perhaps a life time. Now that it RADICAL!!!!!!

The Slight Edge is a GREAT book. If you are looking to have a QUANTUM LEAP in the quality of your life, relationships or business this is a must read/listen to book. Good Morning MOJO,

“…and then one day it’s over. All of my life I was focused on how great life was going to be when I finally made it to the top….had the money…got the job title…finally retired…”

Last Sunday morning I was running up at Rancho San Antonio in Los Altos with some of my friends and we ran this loop which we run all of the time…but that day we ran it backwards. So the way down the hill was the way we usually go up. And, as we where running down through the trees by this stream, Dominic said “wow, it is beautiful back in here”. We both laughed, because we had run that same trail probably 100 times before, but almost always going up the hill instead of down. And because when you are going up the hill you’re grinding hard, pushing, breathing heavy and so focused on getting to the top, we never really paid attention to how beautiful it was. We both commented how life is exactly the same as that run…sometimes we are so focused on getting to the top that you don’t take time to appreciate the things and people along the journey. I think the message is pretty simple and clear…right? The key is to find that balance of determination and appreciation.

This group of friends I workout with is great…during our workouts, we talk about this MOJO kind of stuff all of the time and it is amazing how the more we talk about it…the more we focus on it…the more it happens. Find a group of people you can walk with, run with, or whatever with and talk about this kind of MOJO stuff. You will be amazed how it will actually start to work.

Make it a GREAT week and enjoy the journey!!!!

Good Morning MOJO,

“I just can’t bare it anymore”. ”It just won’t work”. “I just keep running into the wall”. “I am working so hard and things aren’t getting better…they are getting worse” “I’m calling it quits”. Perfect!!!! This is exactly where you need to be. You are at the point of having that radical breakthrough you’ve been waiting for. It is at this specific moment when the magic happens for those few who can suck it up and grind through the pain, the failure, and the doubt. When you are at the point of throwing in the towel and calling it quits is exactly when you need to turn up the heat and really go for it, because you are at the Tipping Point. I know it sounds kind of nuts, but you have to experience the breakdown to have the breakthrough…it is just part of the process of getting better. This is how it is with almost everything in life…personally, professionally, with your health…you name it.

When we are born, we naturally have this fight in us…it is how we learn to walk, talk and read. But then over time most of us lose our ability to not give up. Our job now is to get it back. The tough part is when you are one of the few who embrace failure as part of the process of getting better, you are going against the tide. Because most people look to go the path of least resistance…not fighting when the going gets tough…just giving up is the norm. Most people are looking for the short cut…the quick fix diet or pill…the home run investment…the easy way to the top. That is why obesity is one of the biggest epidemics in society…why so many people file bankruptcy…why so many marriages end in divorce. Rather than doing what it takes to get what they want, people give up when the going gets tough and try the quick fix solution instead. We try and find the easy way to avoid the pain. There is no easy way…you have to attack it head on. You just have to eat less/healthier and workout regularly…invest consistently, wisely and be patient…talk it out when you and your spouse are fighting… You have to embrace the path of resistance…the path only the lucky 5 to 10 percent of society have the discipline and commitment to travel.

So, attack failure and breakdowns…because it is the last step just before the breakthrough to getting what you want. Don’t fear the breakdown…you actually need to embrace it as part of the process of getting better. It is those people that when things become almost unbearable…when everyone else starts throwing in the towel and giving up…it is those that can keep on track just a little longer when most others quit who will experience the radical breakthrough to get what you want…taking it to that next level.

Make it a GREAT week!!!!
